PS3 Price Drop?!

In an interesting bit of news from 28 January I learned that the Sony Corporation has developed a CHEAPER (to produce) Blu-Ray device! What does this mean?! Well it means that SCEA could be dropping the price of the much lusted after, infrequently purchased Playstation 3 console! (It also means that the price of those sexilicious Blu-Ray players is going to drop, but PS3 plays Blu-Ray DVDs so... just get one appliance and not two, mmkay!!!)
Now there's speculation all up and down this rumour because SCEA has denied they are planning to drop the console's price. And there's reason to listen to them on this one because the 40gig PS3 option has done better in the market than anyone thought it was going to (given its limitations). However, the last time the cut the price of the PS3 they maintained that it was just a terrible rumour up to the day the price dropped. Sooooooo.... yeah.

Worrying is about as effective as chewing gum to solve algebra
Having bought one on release day (£425) and a few other things for it, I only (To date) found one game that's kept me going back to it - Assassins Creed. Sadly, that's on a cheaper console, which I also own, and it doesn't forget to keep animating the Altair model mid air..
I may rebuy one, one day, but damn. I don't agree with their advertising it as a blu-ray player anymore, not since the version of blu-ray it actually plays is somewhat behind, even now. It can't manage the Java menus that're starting to appear, and I doubt the changes to the content of blu-ray movies are going to stop there. One day, the shiny black behemoth may well lose it's second shining feature - And it sadly looks to be coming quite quickly.
As a side note. Reading this journal I was presented with with a slightly odd occurance in your formatting. Image shack direct link the sentence 'Now there's speculation all up and down this rumour because SCEA has" the denied, in italics, overlaps the they're. Didn't see the point in creating a thread for this - It's probably my fault :B

That Guy...
I don't have one and probably won't until it becomes affordable and cost effective (I'll have money to get games after I purchase the console and still be able to pay rent).
On the italics thing : Yeah, that's a bug that's been noted... I think Fluffy is on that, but it's not top priority at the moment.
Fluffy is a pretty pretty princess.

I will re-buy one, one day. Probably when it's built up some steam, and has some better games available. But for now, it doesn't offer me anything my 360 doesn't, and on my TV there's not a discernable difference between the two consoles (My friend Dave reckons there is, but I think he's just a rabid fanboy that refuses to accept that on our TV's there isn't a jot of difference between the two).
Italics: Ahh, cool cool. I hadn't seen it before, nor anything about it, didn't know if you guys were aware or not :B
